The first show that I saw was Stone Temple Pilots at the UIC Pavilion in Chicago on the Purple tour. I still have vivid memories of Dean DeLeo getting feedback on his guitar as the band opened with "Vasoline". I will never forget it! I have always enjoyed STP, and they were my favorite band as a teenager. Purple and Tiny Music are their best records by far and the aforementioned Purple was one of the best rock records of the 90's. The band recently released their first new album in nearly ten years and it's a gem. They will hit the road this August with more dates to be announced.

I have a pretty chill weekend planned, which is nice for a change. On Sunday, I am going to an MBA reunion at Goose Island, which should be a fun time. I might check out Midlake on Sunday at Lincoln Hall, but I haven't made up my mind. I hope everyone has a great weekend.
Happy Opening Day! I am cautiously optimistic for my White Sox this season, but it's a long season so we will see. I had a pretty chill weekend, but I did get out and try a new beer on Friday night. The beer engine at Map Room had Thornbridge Brewery's Jaipur IPA pouring. Unfortunately, they ran out, but I enjoyed the the one glass that I had. Don't forget that they announce the Lollapalooza lineup tomorrow. Here is some news and a video to get your Monday moving.
It's going to be a long week, but by the end of the week, I will know what Phish shows I will be going to this summer. I was able to get two tickets to the now sold-out MGMT show at The Riviera Theatre on June 18. I tried a Burton Bridge Old Expensive Ale, which is currently on the beer engine at Map Room. I hope everyone had a great weekend. Here is some news and a video of the Foo Fighters national television debut back in 1995 to get your Monday moving.
Stone Temple Pilots haven't released a quality record since their 1994 masterpiece Purple. On May 25, STP will release their sixth album, Stone Temple Pilots via Atlantic Records. The album was produced by Dean & Robert DeLeo, which is a very good thing. I am very anxious and excited to hear what the band has come up with. The first single, "Between the Lines" will be released March 30, but you can listen to it now at Rock It Out! Blog. You can check out the album artwork and the tracklist below.
