Preview: Austin City Limits Music Festival - Zilker Park - Austin, TX October 3-5

The summer music festival season will come to a close this weekend with the ACL Music Festival at Zilker Park in Austin, TX. This year's lineup is very strong with the Yeah Yeah Yeahs & Kings of Leon headlining Friday. Dave Matthews Band & Ghostland Observatory headlining Saturday night. Pearl Jam will play unopposed on Sunday night.

Other bands that round out the strong lineup include Them Crooked Vultures, Ben Harper and Relentless7, Thievery Corporation, John Legend, The Levon Helm Band, Sonic Youth, Mos Def, Arctic Monkeys, The Avett Brothers, Medeski Martin & Wood, Dan Auerbach, Blitzen Trapper & many more.

I attended the festival in 2007 and had an absolute blast. The festival grounds are vast and the layout is great. The searing heat was the only thing that really bothered me. There is nothing like getting baked by the sun and listening to great music. This year, the organizers moved the festival into October with hopes of the weather being a little cooler, but with it being in Texas you never know.

If you ever go to the festival you have to make it a point to check out Hudson's on The Bend and try their chicken cone. It is divine!

The festival is completely
SOLD OUT, but it will be broadcast via iClips. To watch the iClips live broadcast click here.

  1. Cool, thanks for the link! I didn't know you were here in '07. I went once, in 2003, and it was so hot - there were people fainting all around me. They've wised up a bit since then, with spray tents. Unfortunately, it's supposed to rain all weekend, so they may have just traded in blazing heat for unending mud...
